Rapé ceremonie

What is Rapé?

Rapé (pronounced hah-PAY) is a blend of tobacco, alkaline (basic) ashes, and other medicinal
plants. The alkaline ashes are added to create extra balance in the person receiving the rapé. Rapé
was originally used by Brazilian Indigenous tribes.

By using rapé, you feel your head grow lighter, and afterward you feel more grounded again. You
stand more firmly in your shoes. Your intuition is heightened, enabling you to make better-founded
choices—not only based on intuition, of course, but combined with a clear head and reasoning. This
can help you experience a deeper, more intense connection with the Spirits, the higher, and yourself.
Rapé brings you in one instant into a deep meditative state, causing all thoughts to fall silent. Your
body can relax more deeply.

Rapé ceremony

During this ceremony, you receive rapé several times in different varieties.
Rapé (pronounced hah-PAY) is a blend of tobacco, alkaline (basic) ashes, and other medicinal
plants.

Sometimes a nut or a seed is used. Rapé is usually made from Nicotiana rustica, a very
potent tobacco.

What can you expect?

• Welcome in a safe holding environment
• A circle of people
• Beautiful shamanic music, part of it live
• One or more sharing rounds
• Closing with a cup of tea and a treat

In turn, the rapé is blown into both nostrils using the tepi (pipe).

One nostril represents the feminine half, and the other nostril represents the masculine half. By
cleansing these two lines within yourself, the medicine brings you into greater balance—uniting the
masculine (reason) with the feminine (feeling), and the higher (spirits) with the earth. There is
ample space to let this medicine do its work before we move on to the next round.
This is a beautiful opportunity to receive different types of rapé from a Brazilian tribe. You’ll notice
that at times it can feel a bit uncomfortable. Initially, you may feel floaty or dizzy and then very
grounded. Tears may flow. Sometimes you receive an insight. It is a fire medicine; sweating is part
of it. Besides the (physical) discomforts, it mainly clears away a lot of ballast, which gives you
clarity.
